Malayer is a village located in Northwest Persia. Small rugs and runners were most common in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Motifs inspiration came from the "boteh"(a sign of rebirth), birds, flowers and vinery lattice, and the well known Herati design. Natural dyes were used and navy was often used as a field color.
